Beary Lake

It has been about two years exactly since we have been to Bear Lake, or Beary Lake as Paige calls it. It was so nice to cool off and have some family fun. It was a spur of the moment trip but it was tons of fun. The kids loved playing in the sand and playing in the water. Paige was not too fond of getting too much sand on her and would go wash off in the lake by laying in the water. It was funny. Jack had fun pretending he was a swamp monster and digging holes and filling them with water. Aaron and I enjoyed watching them and playing in the water with them.

Swim Lessons Round 2

The second round of swim lessons was another success. It was great to see the skills they learned the first time around get a little more in grained. Jack was in a little older class this time around and learned how to tread water. Pretty awesome. They are both our little water babies. After their last day of lessons we went to the local bakery and got donuts (nothing compared to Carlocks, from where I grew up but oh well).

Happy Birthday Jack!!!

To my fabulous four year old - I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!

We had a little party to celebrate Jack being 4. He wanted to invite practically everyone that he knows. Including baby sitters, church teachers, and kids he saw on the street. But we got him to narrow down his list to kids his age and that I knew. Since it is wicked hot here (I am a heat woosey), we had a water party. We filled the pool turned on the sprinklers, and had a slip n slide. It was fun. I wish that I would have gotten more pictures though. The heat just drains my energy and I just feel like I am melting.

Meghan, Stephen, and Noni came up to celebrate with Jack. It was fun to watch Meghan and Stephen go down the slip n slide. The kids kind of got the hang of the slip n slide. Paige liked it best when Aaron help her slide. Here are a few pics of Jack and his friends:

I took Jack in for his four year old well visit. Aaron was able to come home and stay with Paige. It was nice just to take him. Jack has such a great personality. He can become friends with anyone. He quickly won over the nurse who took his weight, height, and did a few other tests/measurements with him. When the doctor came in he just said well the nurses love him. After impressing the doctor with his vocabulary, drawing ability and his charming personality Jack got the last of his toddler shots. He had 5. He was so brave and didn't cry all that much. He got a sucker for each shot and a t-shirt.

I am so proud of Jack. He is such a kind and friendly boy. It is true that being four is fabulous. We are loving having a four year old. He is such a wonderful addition to our family.

Almost Forgot

So I am a total slacker. I totally forgot to add a post about my little sister's graduation from BYU. It happened back in April (I think). My parents came out from ABQ and my Grandma also joined us. Aaron couldn't make to the actual graduation but he was there for some of the other fun! Actually during the cermony was no fun for me. It started at 8am or something early like that. (I don't remember all the little details three months later, this is why I should be more on the ball! Oh well) Anyway the kids were doing great. We were at the beginning stages of potty training Jack. At this point he was afraid of using public restrooms. I was feeling pretty good about things because Jack had fallen asleep on my lap and Paige was happy hanging with Papa. All of a sudden things changed! I suddenly felt a warm wetness on my lap. Jack had peed while he was asleep. I thought no big deal, at least he is still asleep. Well he woke up shortly after and said that he had to go to the bathroom. Since we were with my mom and grandma we got to take elevators to the floor and sit right close to the ground in the BYU stadium. So when it came time to take Jack to the bathroom we had to hike up all those steps and oh ya in 3 in. heels! Jack and I get to the top and he refuses to use the public restroom. He starts screaming and throwing a fit. I take him outside, where it is raining. Hoping that will motivate him to try and use a public restroom. He keeps screaming and then he stops. Yep! He peed his pants. I told myself, well at least it is outside and its raining. It could be worse. Oh I thought those words too soon! So now Jack is embarrassed and doesn't want to go back in. But I convince him that its fine, no one can tell that his pants are wet and we need to see Mimi graduate. That is why we are here after all. We get back in there and Paige is getting kind of antsy. Oh and while I was gone she had pooped. So it is now stinky in our little area. Paige kept moving around while sitting on my lap and in the process got poop on me. I had forgotten to bring wipes with us to the graduation. So as soon as Meghan walked across the stage the kids and I were out of there. Up all of those stairs again and through the rain to the car where we waited. Paige was poopy and Jack had pee on his clothes and I had both poop and pee on me. The joys of being a mom! During all this, Aaron was secretly making his way to us. I thought that he wasn't going to come at all. He had a test and work. I had talked to him once we got to the car and told him about the wonderful morning we were having. Since he was on his way to us he stopped at wal-mart, bought some wipes, and a change of clothes for Jack. But since he was keeping his arrival a secret, we were already at the hotel and changed by the time he caught up with us. Apparently he was in the parking at the same time we were trying to get out.

After that fiasco we had a great weekend. We went bowling, ate at Cheesecake Factory, played in the pool and had fun just hanging out. Congratulations Megs!

Freedom Run 2010

Last Saturday July 3rd my friend, Julie, and I ran in the Freedom Run. It was 15k starting up Blacksmith Fork Canyon, ending at Hyrum City Park. It was such a fun and enjoyable run/race. I went faster then I normally go. I think that I was holding Julie back because at about 6 miles I had to slow down and I assured her that she should go ahead if she wanted to. It didn't take long before she was so far ahead I lost site of her. My short stubby legs are just no match for her long sexy legs! The weather was perfect, the company was awesome and the scenery was gorgeous. Thanks for running with me Julie!

Swimming Lessons Round 1

I put both of the kids in swim lessons. The first session ended last week. Let me just say that I am way impressed. My friend told me about this lady who does lessons out of her backyard. She doesn't let parents watch until the last day. I was mostly worried about how Paige would do. Both did great. Jack is swimming under water, both are floating on their backs with little or no assistance, both jump off the diving board. They are both also learning the basics of holding your breath and blowing bubbles. Also they are learning when they should hold their breath or when they should blow bubbles. They are starting their second session this week. Paige is way more comfortable in the water, I even notice a difference during bath time. In fact I think that I may start separating them for bath, because they both like to float around on their backs or tummies and space is limited! I feel a little better about taking them to the pool or any other large body of water.
