ABQ Trip (way back in May!)

During the middle part of May, Aaron took a trip to San Francisco to attend the Google IO conference. So I thought while he was gone the kids and I would go to Albuquerque to visit my parents. It was so nice to have some warm weather. The kids had been dying to be outside and play. Lucky for them Noni found a fun outdoor play pirate ship. They had tons of fun with that. It was a nice week of just hanging. I was also surprised at how well the kids and I traveled to and from ABQ. They are good little travelers.

While we were there we feed the ducks. And there were some really mean geese. Paige thought that she could go and pet them, one actually hissed at her. So after that incident we went to a different place. The ducks must get feed a lot because none of them seemed really interested.

Also while I was there I brought some vinyl. We put the city scape and air jordon in Cameron's room. Hopefully he likes it when he gets home. (only 5 more weeks!!!) and then I also put up the dandelion. I think that they both look nice.

Bear Lake Trip

I had such a great time with my girlie friends up at Bear Lake a couple of weeks ago. We went up there for some to participate in the Bear Lake 1/2 marathon. I was going to run. However after dealing with a minor complications with my IUD, I was not able to get all the training in and didn't feel confident that I could do it. My friend took my spot and got me an awesome time ;)

The night before we had glitter toes, treats, hot tube and lots of laughs. The only bad part was that the trip, in my opinion, was not long enough. The three who ran did awesome considering it rained the night before and really only stopped raining during the race.

Summerfest Contest

This year was the first year that the Summerfest had a contest for Photographers. Being the first year there are bound to be kinks that need to be worked out. Unfortunately for me there was a BIG one! The wording was poor as to how many pictures each photographer could enter. I understood it as two for each catagory. Well I was wrong and the correct interpretation meant two pictures total for each photographer. As part of the competition the pictures had to be taken between Monday and Wednesday. So I spent two and half days taking pictures from 5am until 9pm, then spending the rest of the time going through and editing and selecting the best ones. During this time I neglected keeping up with housework, properly feeding my kids and getting in nap times. Keep in mind during these two and half days I still thought I could enter two pcitures for each category. Each picture had to be printed and framed. I decided that since I was going to be getting 6 pictures printed and at large sizes I would get them done at Costco. (closet one is in Ogden) I ordered my last picture Wednesday morning drove to Ogden to pick up my pictures. When I placed the order it said that the pictures would be ready by 1pm. I was anxious because that didn't give me any time to get them into frames and dropped off in Logan by 2pm. So while I was driving my husband called and asked if they would rush the job. They glady did and had them waiting for me when I got there are 11:30am. Way to go Costco photo! She was awesome and super friendly. I finally got to the Summerfest Home to drop off my pictures. The kind man checking in the photogs said so you have two and I yes two for 3 of the categories. His response was oh you can only enter in a total of two. I wanted to cry. I was sleep deprived, hungry (I hadn't gotten lunch yet), and just exhausted. Its a good thing that I had some self control because I wanted to take my picture frame and slam it on his head. He just would have been in the wrong spot at the wrong time. It was a TWANDA moment avoided. On the way home I did break down into tears. The ONE and ONLY good thing that did come out of this was that I was able to get A LOT of practice in. I think I greatly improved my photography ability these last couple of days. Oh and the other thing that upset was that as part of the competition I could chose to try and sell my prints at a silent going on during the rest of the Summerfest. Well when I thought that I had the potential of 4-6 pictures being sold I thought that I could at least cover my costs to get them printed and framed. With only being able to submit two those chances are gone. Here are the pictures that I had printed and framed to enter into the contest. The categories were Landscape, Still Life and Portrait. Hopefully you can enjoy and appreciate them! I would love some feedback since I won't be able to get any from the judges! (P.S. thank for letting me vent, I feel much better;) Oh and course I appreciate my friends lending me there kids for some of the portrait shots.
